fife & tayside wider access forum

Fife and Tayside Wider Access Forum is one of four regional forums funded by the Scottish Funding Council.

Fife and Tayside Wider Access Forum LogoThe Forum is a partnership of universities, colleges, local authorities and Careers Scotland working in Fife and Tayside to raise awareness of, widen access to and increase participation in post compulsory education through collaborative working.

Fife and Tayside Wider Access Forum was established in 2000 funded by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, with subsequent funding support also from the Scottish Further Education Funding Council. In the period 2004 -2008, the Forum received funding to facilitate cross-sector links, to encourage progression from low progressing schools and community based learning, and through this to promote effective transitions and encourage participation by under-represented groups.

Following the publication of the Learning for All report in 2005 with its recommendation that the Forums should be placed on a more permanent footing, the Funding Council has agreed that they will be funded on a two year rolling programme of funding from August 2008. The remit of the Forums has also been broadened to include all post compulsory education.

The Forum targets its activities through two themes, LIFT OFF that focuses on activities with schools and Transitions that covers post school activities.
